The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Senate District 20 Convention took place on Saturday, March 14, at the Plainview-Elgin-Millville PreK-3 School in Plainview, MN.  Delegates from the District unanimously endorsed Jason Lohmann for State Senate.  Lohman, a local farmer, truck driver, and member of both the Zumbrota-Mazeppa School Board and the Goodhue County Education District Board, promised to bring common sense, practical experience, and a working-class voice to St. Paul.

The convention delegates also endorsed retired National Guard Lieutenant Colonel Heather Arendt as their candidate for House District 20A.  A native of Belle Creek Township, Arendt has been a lifelong advocate for rural Minnesota; she helped lead the bipartisan fight against Zip Rail and for a safer Highway 52 corridor.  Arendt said she’d bring her leadership experience, moderate political beliefs, and core values of honesty and integrity to the State House.

Steve Holm, lifelong resident of the St. Charles area and retired Mayo Clinic Information Technology programmer lead, was unanimously endorsed for House District 20B.  Holm, who lives on the family farm where he grew up, has extensive experience with the Saratoga Township and Winona County Planning and Zoning Committee; he promised to use his talents as a problem solver to look for practical solutions to the many difficulties facing rural Minnesota.

Minnesota’s Primary Election is Tuesday, August 11.  The General Election will be Tuesday, November 3.
