On Saturday, Feb. 28th, DFL precinct delegates from all around Winona County met for the biennial convention at the Winona Middle School.  Delegates, alternates, and visitors got to hear speeches from candidates for State House and Senate.  Representatives from MN Senate candidates Angie Craig and Peggy Flanagan also spoke, as did Jake Johnson, who is running to unseat Brad Finstad in the First Congressional District. Mark Ritchie, former Secretary of State, spoke on behalf of current Secretary of State Steve Simon, who is up for reelection.  Representatives from two of the candidates for State Auditor addressed the crowd, as did Shivanthi Sathanandan, the MN DFL Second Vice Chair.

Following this, delegates elected Officers and Directors for the county DFL and voted on which resolutions submitted from precincts at the recent county caucus night should go forward to the State DFL Convention. Winona County is allowed to forward 20 resolutions to the convention for possible inclusion in the policy positions the party supports and promotes during the next two years.

The final action of the convention was the selection of the delegation for the First Congressional District Convention and the MN DFL State Convention.
