Members of the Minnesota House DFL are holding a Rural Healthcare Listening Session in Winona on December 11th to hear real stories from Minnesotans ahead of the next legislative session.

Rural Minnesotans are struggling with a crisis in health care access and affordability. Hospital and clinic closings have become increasingly common in rural areas (for example, the Caledonia clinic will be closing soon). This means residents often have to travel long distances for emergencies, checkups, mental health care, and prenatal care.

These closures are only slated to get worse due to President Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and other key supports that help rural hospitals stay afloat. Meanwhile, we see healthcare and insurance companies are doing better than ever, all while the average Minnesotan struggles to stay healthy and to afford basic necessities.

Rep. Kristi Pursell from Northfield, Rep Andy Smith from Rochester, and Rep. Jamie Long will be there for the event; they want to hear from you about this issue.  They will be visiting Winona on Thursday, December 11th from 6:00 – 7:00pm.

RSVP here and you’ll receive the location and more information about the event as it gets closer.
