CITIZENS VOICE THEIR CONCERNS AT DFL MEETING
On Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, the Winona County DFL held a Concerned Citizens Meeting at the Kensington Building in downtown Winona. 60 people showed up. It was facilitated by the Outreach and Inclusion Committee of the Winona County DFL. Many topics were presented to the group; participants voted for the four topics they were most interested in. Attendees could add topics to the list; two topics were added. Four very important subjects were ultimately chosen to discuss: 1. Rule of Law, 2. Unelected Control, 3. Mis/Dis Information, and 4. Moving Forward. The group then formed into breakout sessions, with a discussion leader for each breakout group. Four 10-minute discussion sessions took place, with the discussion leader reading out what was discussed after each session. One volunteer recorder took notes; these are included below.
At the close of the meeting, attendees decided that the Winona County DFL should continue these Concerned Citizens meetings; the County DFL will look for a larger venue for future meetings.
DFL Outreach and Inclusion Officer Joe Schlichenmeyer said, “Due to the importance and urgency of the political situation we find ourselves in, this group will only grow. Invite your friends and neighbors to join us…we look forward to our continued resistance, to fight back, to refuse tyranny, to save our country. Which is exactly what we are going to do.”
