DFL caucus night was a spectacular success this year!  373 DFLers attended caucus night at four locations in Winona County. At Winona High School, caucus attendees thanked Gene Pelowski for his 38 years of service as the representative for House Seat 26A, the crowd listened to speeches from Dwayne Voegeli and Sarah Kruger, the two candidates vying to replace him. After electing Jack Krage as caucus chair for the night, caucus-goers met in their precinct groups to elect precinct chairs, select delegates for the SD26 nominating convention, and vote on resolutions to send forward to the county and state conventions.

Caucuses also convened in Lewiston, St. Charles, and Dakota. Despite bad weather conditions, DFLers showed up to elect their delegates and vote on resolutions. In St. Charles, which is part of House District 20B, caucus attendees visited with the DFL candidate for that seat, Michael “Hutch” Hutchinson.

According to Winona County DFL Chair Jim Worthley, 28 precinct chairs and 42 precinct vice-chairs were elected, which represents a tremendous upsurge in political involvement for the county DFL. Precincts also elected 173 convention delegates and 42 alternates. In St. Charles, 15 delegates were elected to help endorse the candidate for HD20B. In addition, 69 people volunteered to act as election judges.
